CHURCHWIDE MINISTRIES

LIVING GRACE & TRUTH
Plan to join our deacons and their families this Thanksgiving as we live grace and truth by participating in one of two Richmond area Thanksgiving dinners.
- VCU International Student Dinner, Monday, November 19th, at 6:00 p.m.
- The Giving Heart Community Feast, Thursday, November 22nd (Thanksgiving Day), at 11:00 a.m., 12:45 p.m., or 2:00 p.m. (Sign up at www.thegivingheart.org)

Please see the table hosted by our Deacons in the foyer for more information and to sign up so you can join in living grace and truth to the Richmond area.

CHURCH RECEPTION UPDATE
In light of the VA Tech tragedy and in order to provide greater care for our school and church, on November 12th we will secure the Ridge Road entrance and ask everyone to check in with the receptionist. Contractors and individuals going to the education wing will need to acquire a badge so the school staff will know you have checked in. If you are attending a church activity during school hours, please use the Ridge Road entrance. Furthermore, on evenings and weekends the doors will be open for scheduled activities. Thank you for helping us increase the care for all who enter the facilities.

PROPOSED 2008 BUDGET
The 2008 proposed budget will be made available today at the Welcome Center. There will be two opportunities for church-wide discussion, tonight at 6:00 p.m. (in the worship center) and on Wednesday, November 7, at 6:30 p.m. (in room 105). Having had two opportunities for church-wide discussion, we will vote as a church (without discussion) during our quarterly Grove Family Celebration on Sunday, November 11, at 6:00 p.m.

VIRGINIA CAPITOL COOKOUT
Join us as we walk together on November 5th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. for the Pre-election Capitol Square Prayer Walk at the Old City Hall (1001 E. Broad St.). Please join us and meet David Andrews, the Virginia State director for Capitol Ministries. We want to take this opportunity to pray for the upcoming elections.

THE GROVE FAMILY INTRODUCTION CLASS
The next class for new members of the Grove Family and those considering membership will be Sunday, November 11, at 3:30 pm in Rm 166-167. This class will give you the opportunity to meet some of our deacons and staff, learn about the ministry of the Grove Family and discover how you can find a place to become involved. You will also be given an informational tour of the church. Plan to be in the Grove Family Celebration service at 6:00 pm so that we can introduce you to the church family! Please call Sandi Lawrence in the church office at 777-8888 or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it by Thursday morning, November 8 to make reservations and to let us know if you will need childcare.

A CHANGE FOR THE FOOD PANTRY
So that we can better serve people who come to our church in need of food, we will no longer stock a Food Pantry. We will now provide Ukrops' gift certificates so that people can purchase the food that will best meet their needs. If you would like to contribute toward the purchase of those Ukrops' certificates, you can make a designated gift to the Fellowship Fund.

NOVEMBER STAFF ANNIVERSARIES
Jim Callison has served with us for 7 years.

THE HOLY LAND
Words of Victory Ministries is investigating the possibility of a tour of the Holy Land this spring. Next year marks the 60th Anniversary of the Nation of Israel and the Television Ministry (through the NRB) has been invited to visit the Holy Land in 2008. The Israel Minister of Tourism has assured Words of Victory that travel to the country is safe. The trip would be coordinated by Mark & Terrie Jenkins. This will be the television’s third trip to the Middle East and there is interest in filming in these areas. If you are interested in participating, contact Mark Jenkins at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
